At the end of December 1971, Edward King purchased Sceptre with the intention of converting her to a cruising boat. Berthon Yard was contracted to undertake the conversion, had stripped her completely and started installing sterngear when King died unexpectedly. An Executor’s Sale eventually followed, with Sceptre still in her stripped condition.
